A lot has happened in the last 10 months when I announced that I was going to return to the boxing ring to promote a new boxing gym for the kids in Rutherford County. On November 22, 2008 I did return to the ring in Tunica, Mississippi at Fitzgerald’s Casino but it was not as a boxer, it was as a professional cutman. I worked Keith McKnight’s corner as a cutman that night along with Jeff Thomas who was the chief second. Keith pounded out a unanimous decision over Samuel Brown in his very own return to the ring himself. I know there are a lot of people that wanted to see me fight again, but I have really moved on from that aspect of the sport. I am now under the tutelage of my father Ray Rodgers who is one of the best cutmen in the sport hands down. I have a lot more to learn, and even more to live up too.
I have taken over the Tennessee Mid-State Golden Gloves Boxing tournament and working towards having the first tournament in March of 2009. The actual boxing gym located in La Vergne is still there, but not open due to a few set backs. Hopefully we will get these set backs corrected soon. Regardless, this will not stop the Mid-State Golden Gloves from happening this year.

, You know, I have successfully oreerdd apple pie and coffee for the last 3 months. I'm tired of apple pie and coffee. Could you teach me something else so I might order for lunch? His sponsor said, Yes. Say you want ham sandwich and coffee. He was thrilled! Then next day he went to the restaurant. Sat down and proudly told the waitress, I would like ham sandwich and coffee. and smiled. The waitress smiled back and asked, Would you like that on white or rye? He looked at the waitress for a few seconds and said, Apple pie and coffee.
