*In June of 1997 I drove an 89 Ford Escort to Nashville. It was the 2nd time that I had moved there to try and start a career in country music. It was my first night back and I was hungry, without a place to sleep. It was about 10PM or so and I stopped at the old Shoney's on Demonbreun. I was sitting in my booth and hoping that I had not made a mistake by coming back to Nashville again. I was sitting there eating a bowl of soup and talking to God, asking him, begging him to give me a sign that I was doing the right thing. I wanted to be a country music singer more then anything else in the world. At that very moment a man sat down in my booth. I was wearing a cowboy hat and didn't even look up to see who it was, he just said "I hope you don't mind if I sit here for a minute. I had a stroke a while back and I'm too weak to walk very far. I just need to rest". I recognized "the voice" before I even looked up. But when I did, I just smiled and said, "I think God just answered me". He smiled back at me and we begin to talk about country music.*

I met Vern Gosdin
In 1995 my Uncle and I had tickets to see Vern live in Georgia. He was my Uncle's favorite singer. My uncle used to listen to "Do you believe me now" and cry because his it reminded him of his divorce with his wife and Vern could really get to your heart with his songs. My Uncle was hospitalized in intensive just a few days from leaving this world and couldn't make the concert. I was crying and someone saw me and asked me why, and I told him and the security guard let me go back stage to the bus and they went on the bus and out stepped Vern Gosdin. I told him how much my uncle loved him and they he was dying and couldn't make the trip. Vern dedicated my Uncle's favorite song to him that night and promised that he would go to the hospital to visit him before he died. My Uncle died that night. I will never forget how nice Vern was and how down to earth he was. What a wonderful man, who will be truely missed by the entire country music world.
